MISSION STATEMENT

The Frankfort United Methodist Church will help each person make their next step in faithfulness.

Vision Statement #1:

God and the surrounding community will see individuals moving toward increased faithfulness in their personal relationship with God.

Strategies:

1]  Members and friends of the church will be asked to fill out a worship commitment card.  That commitment will be between them and God.  The church will continue to track worship attendance and issue a quarterly report to each individual.

Goal:  50% of the Average Worship Attendance will participate.  75% of those participating will meet their individual goal.

2] Four adult Bible studies will be offered during the year.   Lenten, Advent, and two others.

Goal:  25% of the Average Worship Attendance will participate in at least one of the Bible studies.  Participation determined by 75% of the meetings attended.  The four Bible studies will average no less than 12 in attendance for each study.

3] The church will assist in the creation of covenant groups.  Wesleyan covenant groups will be studied; leaders will be trained.

Goal:  At least four covenant groups will be created.  A number equal to at least 25% of average worship attendance will participate in covenant groups.  An additional covenant group for youth will be established.

Vision Statement #2:

God and the surrounding community will see individuals moving toward increased faithfulness in the Greater Kingdom.

Strategies:

1] The church will move toward increased ecumenical activity in the Frankfort and surrounding communities.

Goal:  three ecumenical services during the year; Holy Week, 4th of July, and Thanksgiving

2] The church will seek to understand differing religious viewpoints.

Goal:  A six-week world religions class will be offered at least once during the year with at least twelve in attendance for each set of classes.

3] The church will engage in intentional hands-on ministry in the greater Kingdom.

Goal: A minimum of eight adults will participate in a mission opportunity outside the bounds of the Flint Hills District.

Vision Statement #3:

God and the surrounding community will see individuals moving toward increased faithfulness in invitational discipleship.

Strategies:

1] The church will offer a three-hour class in invitational discipleship three times during the year.

Goal:  A number equal to 30% of the average worship attendance will be trained in invitational discipleship.

2] The church will host an ‘invitation Sunday’ once per quarter.

Goal:  Each ‘invitation Sunday’ will reflect a minimum of five first-time visitors from Frankfort and the surrounding area.

Goal:  The church will follow up with all first-time visitors with a mailed ‘thank-you’; a call from the pastor and a call from a team of two laity from the church.
